My first blog
Owls
A group of owls is a parliament. An owl has a different style of hunting than other predatory birds. They glide silently to catch their prey instead of going super fast like a hawk. The reason for this is that an owl's feathers are so fluffy and velvety that nothing can hear it gliding.
Hawks on the other hand have super aerodynamic feathers so once something hears it they are nomaly going to be food in 5 seconds. The owl also has off set ears so that they can hear stuff from all sides. Talking about ears, owls have holes for ears. Their ears aren't shown. The ears are holes under the fluff that is called an ear.
Owls also throw up after every meal because they eat the prey whole so they throw up pellets. Pellets are a mixture of mucus, bones and skin. It is in the form of a cylinder.
I think it is really cool how a group of owls is a parliament, it reminds me of the british parliament. To me owls are really sneaky birds because of their ability to glide through the air without a sound like you said! It is kind of gross how they throw up their food in a cylinder though. How many species of owl are there?
ReplyDeleteThanks for sending an comment :). There are about 250 species of owls right now. I do agree about the throw up thing to.
DeleteI learned that owls have a different style of hunting than other birds. Before I thought owls were just like other birds, but after reading this I released that they have ability's other birds don't have. It is so cool how they glide through the air without a sound, just like a superhero.
ReplyDeleteNice job! I learned a lot about owls from this before I thought they were just like hawks but now that I have read this I realize that they are way different. Also I think it is weird that they have holes as ears. I have one question though is it true that some owls can turn their head 180 degrees?
ReplyDeleteThank you for reading my post. owls can turn their head at the maximum of 270 degrees.
DeleteI really liked this blog. It tells a lot about owls. I have actually seen multiple owls. What is the most common owl?
ReplyDeleteYou explained how owls glide quietly to catch their prey very well, and made your writing understandable. When you wrote about how owls in a group is called a parliament, I immediately thought about the British Parliament, and the American Revolution. My one question is why do owls need to throw up pellets after eating?
ReplyDeleteWow! Owliver I really admired you work. I know have some good knowledge on owls now.
ReplyDeleteI can relate with the owls throwing up after dinner because last night I did the same.
Have you ever seen an owl before?
I think it is cool how you added that a group of owls is called a parliament. I went on a walk by the beach on a trail that has owls on it, and they looked really cool. I wonder how many owls there are in the world?
ReplyDeleteI never knew owls flew silently! I also never knew that a group of owls is a parliament. How many types of owls are there?
